TRADITIONAL SAILING WITH
We founded Clean Ocean Sailing with the aim of cleaning our coasts and oceans sustainably under sail, and raising awareness about ocean plastics. We estored our 112-year old sailing boat to carry out this mission.
With the help of The Annette and another smaller crafts we sail and paddle to remote, inaccessible places to clean up our coast by collecting plastic from the shores and sorting, recording, reusing and recycling it, and now we want you to join us.
By volunteering, you can make a real difference to wildlife and the environment, make new friends, learn new skills and make the world a better place.
Donations will help us with Annettes final stages of restoration, and allow us to dedicate more time to coastal clean up and recycling.
We would love to invite you to be one of our PATRONS. Become one of the allies, supporters and friends who’ve helped us on our mission over the years. As our patron, you are playing a part in getting Annie back on the water and ensuring that she stays seaworthy. Together we can clean up our ocean.
Weʼre raising £5,000 to fight ocean plastics! Support our boat voyage to the Isles of Scilly to clean up island sanctuaries and around the Cornish coast!
We have owned our beloved boat The Annette for just over 11 years now. She is 111 years old a gaff rigged schooner, 66 foot, 55 tonnes, extremely strong carvel oak planked on oak frames. She was built to sail in the harshest conditions and is, to this day, extremely seaworthy.
She can sleep 8 in two double cabins and four single berths. She is equipped with all the modern systems and navigation equipment required to sail off-shore.
This past decade we have had many adventures together, sailing the UK’s south coast and to the Scilly Isles many times, crossing the Bay of Biscay to explore the gorgeous estuaries of Galicia. The Annette has taken our friends and us safely across the seas in all weather.
But now it is time to give her some love. We are fitting a new stem post, a few stanchions and a new deck. Most of this structural work is done but there is still a long way to go to restore her to her former glory and get her ready for lots of work and fun times with Clean Ocean Sailing.
There are millions of tons of waste plastic littering our oceans and beaches. It’s killing sea life and getting into our food chain and our water supplies.
We sail with Annette around European seas. And with smaller crafts, we paddle and sail around coastlines and visit small, inaccessible beaches where we collect rubbish. We record what we find and collaborate with researchers and other activists to help drive change in mankind’s impact on nature.
Sail with us to generate change in world oceans and in people’s minds!
